Candle Safety
A Gentle Reminder: Fire Is Beauty With Boundaries
A candle brings warmth, mood, and a quiet sense of ritual.
But fire — even wrapped in beeswax — deserves respect.
These guidelines help keep your home, your loved ones, and your peace of mind protected.

The Golden Rule
Never leave a lit candle unattended.
If you leave the room—even for a moment—extinguish it.
Fire is beautiful, but only when you’re there to keep it company.
Protect Little Hands & Curious Paws
Flames draw attention—especially from children and pets.
• Place candles on high, stable surfaces
• Never leave pets/kids alone with a burning candle
Avoid Drafts, Vents & Moving Air
Airflow may seem harmless, but it can:
• Push the flame sideways
• Cause uneven burning
• Increase the risk of sparks or flare-ups
Avoid:
• Open windows
• Ceiling fans
• Heating/AC vents
• Air purifiers or oscillating fans
Don’t Move a Lit Candle
Molten wax is extremely hot and dangerous to move.
To prevent burns or spills:
• Do not move a candle while it's lit or while the wax is liquid
• Wait until the vessel and wax are fully cooled before picking it up
Know When to Stop Burning
When ½ inch (1.2 cm) of wax remains, it’s time to extinguish.
Burning lower can overheat containers or damage surfaces.
Never Use Water to Extinguish a Candle
Water and wax don’t mix.
Using water can cause:
• Hot wax splatter
• Cracked containers
• Sudden flare-ups
Use a snuffer or wick dipper for a clean, safe extinguish.
Safety Snapshot
Do:
• Stay in the room while the candle is burning
• Keep candles out of kids’ and pets’ reach
• Give the flame plenty of breathing room
• Let wax cool before moving the vessel
Don’t:
• Walk away or fall asleep with a candle burning
• Burn near wagging tails, toys, or play areas
• Use water to extinguish a flame
• Move a candle with hot, liquid wax
Final Thought
A candle is a small ritual — a quiet pause in your day.
Treat it with care, enjoy it with presence,
and let its light stay a blessing rather than a hazard.
